CARLOS MIRANDA TO ACT IN A NEW FEATURE FILM
Carlos Miranda has been engaged to play the part of Antonio (Tony) Imbert, one of the conspirators who assassinated the dictator Rafael Trujillo, in the big screen adaptation of the novel "La Fiesta del Chivo” (The Feast of the Goat) by Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa. Filming in Santo Domingo and Madrid, this English language version is directed by Luis Llosa, with a cast that includes Isabella Rosellini and Edward James Olmos.
The story centres on accounts of life under the Trujillo dictatorship, whose rule in the Dominican Republic ran from 1930 until his assassination in 1961. All the conspirators, except two, were killed by Trujillo's security forces within hours or days of the dictator's death, but the character that Carlos plays is today's octogenarian General Antonio Imbert Barreras, the only surviving conspirator, who is now hailed as a national hero.
